Chateaux section

Many of the forts and palaces pictured here have witnessed some of the greatest events in European history - the Great Schism of the Catholic Church, Napoleon's exile, the 100 Years War, the life of Joan of Arc, and much more. Wherever you go in France, without exception, there's always something fascinating for the history lover to see, and knowledgeable local people to tell you about it, with a rich mixture of embroidery and historical fact. An evening in the local watering-hole, sharing a bottle of wine or two with the residents, is an evening's entertainment on its own.
